1)  Open Studios is Here!
 .
Open Studios is here and it is Here!  This coming weekend, October 4th and 5th, features artists in South County.  Next weekend, October 11th and 12th, features those of us in North County.  And October 18th and 19th is Encore Weekend, for artists in both North and South County.  There are many, many fine artists.  Here is a link to the Open Studios Page, on the Arts Council Santa Cruz County website.  The Arts Council has organized, sponsored, and promoted Open Studios for the past 29 years.  I highly recommend purchasing a copy of the  “The Open Studios Art Tour 2014 Guide,” which you will find here:  http://www.artscouncilsc.org/open-studios/
 .
2)  Frank Leonard Photography and Gallery invite you to visit us on October 11th, 12th, 18th, and 19th, 11am to 5pm each day.
.
Artist #201
10295 Riverside Drive, Ben Lomond, California, just two blocks off of Highway 9.
 .
The title of my show this year is “The Nude as Nature,” and features many new images.
 .
CLICK THE THUMBNAIL to view my promotional postcard, which includes a map.  We’re looking very forward to welcoming you here!
 .

.
3)  New Gallery Viewing Room – Over the past several months I have converted my frameshop into a third gallery viewing room.  The space still functions as my work space, but the new natural wood walls now display many new framed photos, complete with track lighting.  It’s a beauty!   Can’t wait to share it with you!
 .
4)  New Display Shelving – All three gallery viewing rooms now have shelving added below the larger, framed prints which hang above.  On the shelving are all of the smaller items (greeting cards and small matted prints) that correspond to the larger framed photographs above.  That way you don’t have to go thumbing through a card rack or photo bin in some other room to find smaller versions of your favorite images.
 .
5)  New Published Book – Frank Leonard Photography: A Body of Work 1958-2014 – I have just published a body of work that includes 100 of my best photos from a lifetime of photography.
 .
CLICK THE THUMBNAIL to view this new collection of my work.
 .

.
When you get here for Open Studios, you will find EVERY ONE of the 100 photographs in this book ALSO hanging in 16×22 handmade double frames, on the walls of my gallery.  It has been a tremendous undertaking that has taken the past six months to complete.  Please come and give me the privilege of sharing this body of work with you!
.
6)  My just published Alaska Calendar 2015 will also be available at my Open Studios.
.
CLICK THE THUMBNAIL to view this calendar.  Pick one up at Open Studios and save the cost of shipping.

 .
7)  Magnets and CD’s – We have created refrigerator magnets of many of the photos from my body of work.  In addition, I have also created a PDF CD of my 100 photograph body of work.  As you can see by now, this 100 photograph body of work will be here for your enjoyment in a wide variety of forms, from magnets to CD’s to a print book to greeting cards to full size framed photos on the walls.  It is no exaggeration to say that this is the most adventurous undertaking of my photography career!!!
.
8)  A New Gallery Name, again!!!  –  When I first built my gallery, I named it the Santa Cruz County Art Gallery.  A couple of years back, realizing that this name did not really reflect the quaintness of this mountain gallery, I renamed it the Ben Lomond Art Gallery.  Now, realizing that even this name does not reflect the at home flavor and uniqueness of this personal journey in photography, I am simply renaming my adventure “FRANK LEONARD PHOTOGRAPHY & GALLERY.”  Very simple, very clean, very accurate.
 .
9)  Nude Figure Workshop with Kim Weston –  I recently had the incredible privilege of participating in a nude figure workshop with Kim Weston, grandson of Edward Weston, a pioneer in photography.  Kim is an excellent teacher and a pioneer in his own right.  We worked with three models over the 3 day workshop.
CLICK THE THUMBNAIL to view 5 photographs I took during this workshop.  They will be the first photographs in my next body of work, and will also be framed and on view at my Open Studios.

.
10)  Open Studio Artist Recommendations:  Several talented artists and friends of mine are in Open Studios as well.  I know you will find their work extraordinary.  Be sure to tell them Frank sent you  :o)
