1)  Open Studios Review
.
Open Studios was very good to me this year!  We welcomed a total of 134 people to my gallery over the two OS weekends, more than ever before.  In addition, sales were higher than ever before, thanks in part to the sale of two of my largest framed prints.  I want to thank all of you who were able to make it by, and I also want to let you know that my gallery is available year around.  If you missed Open Studios, or you’d like to see my latest ongoing work, or if you’ve got friends or visitors you’d like to introduce to my art, please just give me a call at 831-345-5496 and schedule a time to visit.  It would be my pleasure to open my doors for you!

2) A New Photoset

A woman who came to my Open Studios, and who loved my “Nude As Nature” Series, became the model for my latest photoset, “The Davenport Hills.”  It was an extraordinary shoot, and though she had never modeled before, I believe you will agree with me that together she and I were able to create some magical images together.  Click on the photo button above, or go to http://frankleonard.com/the-davenport-hills/ to view these incredible images.

3)  Astrophotography
.
I have loved astronomy almost as long as I have loved photography!  As an early teenager, I had a clock driven, equatorial mount telescope, with a 6″ diameter mirror.  In my late 40’s I built an observatory on the roof of my home in San Francisco, complete with a handmade 10 inch diameter mirror telescope, clock drive, equatorial mount, and a CCD camera.  Now, 7 years into retirement, my love and passion for astronomy and astrophotography have returned, thanks to a man by the name of Rick Whitacre, who spoke at our local camera club early in October.  I came home and within two days had ordered portable clock driven equipment that would make it possible for me to do astrophotography again.  Here is my first subject, the Andromeda Galaxy, M31.

There will be much more to come in the way of Frank’s astrophotography.  Stay tuned!

4)  December 13th Holiday Sale
.
Mark your calendars.  On Sunday, December 13th, there will be a Holiday Sale at Frank Leonard Photography, from 11am to 4pm.  Everything will have special holiday reduced prices.  In addition, my past inventory of work, which will no longer fit on the walls, will have greatly reduced prices.  Greeting cards will sell for as little as a dollar, and 8-1/2 x 11’s for as little as $2.  This is the time to come on by and set yourself up with magnets, greeting cards, framed and unframed prints for holiday gifts.  Be sure to mark it on your calendars!  In my December newsletter, which I will send out in late November, there will be a map, directions, and more details on the sale.

5)  A New Logo
.
As you might have noticed above on the photograph of M31, I have designed a logo for my photography.  Not only will it visually copyright my art, but it will also provide immediate information to folks on where to find more of my work.  I’m really tickled with it.  Hope you like it too!
