Fire Damage Reconstruction, Open Studios, Community Service, Riding Bareback, and Interwoven Magazine!

Hello, dear friends and supporters!
.
There has been much happening at Frank Leonard Photography over the last couple of months.
 .
1)  Fire Damage Reconstruction – First of all, we had a fire here on our property, from an overheated chicken brooder, that cost us the lives of three precious chicks, as well as portions of two walls and two roofs of my photography galleries.  This is how is looked the morning of the fire.

After a month of removing all the fire damaged wood and rebuilding walls and roofs, here is what it looks like today  :o)

Yes, we are well on our way to full recovery!  About another week of work and then my roofer friend will be reshingling the roofs.  Yaehhh!!!
.
2)  Open Studios 2015 – I am pleased to announce that for the 7th year in the 7 years that we have been living here, I have been accepted into this year’s Open Studios Art Tour, sponsored by the Arts Council of Santa Cruz County.  My theme this year is the theme I have developed over the past year, and which is still a work in progress, “The Nude as Nature.”  It is a theme that recognizes the interconnections we all have with the world of which we are an inextricable part.

3)  Co-Chair of the Photography Exhibit at the Upcoming Santa Cruz County Fair – Since retirement from public education 7 years ago, and a lifetime of community service work, I have taken few opportunities for community service. I have played a lot, on my own stuff :o) Teaching photography a couple of times a year to middle school art classes has been very rewarding. And now I am pleased to have been asked to be a co-chair of the photography exhibit at the upcoming Santa Cruz County Fair in September. Planning has started and I am excited about this chance to give back to my community. Yaehhh!!!

4)  “Barebacks” Photoshoot – Recently I had the most unique privilege and honor of being able to photograph a young woman model I have worked with in the past, as she rode and played with two of her horses, in a river and on a mountaintop.  For me, the beauty that comes through best in this photoset is the relationship between a human being and her horses.  I hope you enjoy these photographs as near as much as I have enjoyed creating them and sharing them with you!
